Day 91 – Honolulu to Tahiti –

Weather – Fine, Cloudy. 24C – 29C
Sunrise – 6.15m
Sunset – 6.22pm
Time difference - minus 20 hours ex
Sydney
Throughout the day Sun Princess
continued on a south-south-easterly course and at 12 noon we were 236
miles east of the island of Kiritimati in the Clipperton Fracture
Zone and 149 miles north of the Equator. We crossed the Equator at
8.30pm, so we are now back in the Southern Hemisphere..ahh just feels
like home :)
Sea day again today as we steam towards
Tahiti. The weather is absolutely gorgeous, and the pool deck
beckoned. No activities for us today, a day of lounging by the pool,
alternating between swimming, reading, drinking and napping, with an
odd ice cream and a lunch slipped in there.
The Crossing the Equator Ceremony was
held today given our location. It seemed not that long ago that when
we last did the ceremony, on 26th of May as we headed up away from
Australia at the beginning of this epic voyage.
We spent the whole day on Riviera deck
until 3.30pm, when some numb-nut scheduled an animation movie 'Beauty
and the Beast' on the big screen. I gather the responsible person has
not noticed the demographics of the passengers on this cruise –
guess how many kids were watching the movie– yep you guessed it
right – zip. Perhaps that is because there is only a handful of
kids on board. Guess how many passengers, who had been enjoying a
peaceful afternoon in the sun until they were blasted out by the
volume of the kids movie- left the Riviera deck and headed indoors –
yep, shit-loads. Great decision which will do not do much for the
revenue of the bar..sheesh. I feel better now :)
After dinner show tonight was a
hypnotist, very funny show. It was great seeing so many people we
know in such comical situations. A nice way to end the day :)
steve my pet hate on the whole cruise last year was that at 12 midday they would put a movie on the big screen.... like you said you would be lying in the sun reading relax and suddenly Bam.... on goes the movie full blast Grrrr .... I remember one black and white movie... a war movie .. you would know it if you heard the name but I have forgotten.... I am sure the whole movie involved one bomb exploding after another other... you just couldn't take it for too long. So you had to go somewhere else.... PRINCESS... LEAVE THE MOVIES IN THE DAYTIME IN THE THEATRE WHERE THEY BELONG....
ReplyDeleteAgree Gary and Joanne, Movies Under the Stars is a great concept, but for night time only, not daytime
