Day 62

Day 62 – Reykjavik to Halifax – Monday 16/7/12

Weather – Fine and Cloudy 11C - 12C
Sunrise – 4.53am
Sunset – 10.08pm
Time difference - minus 12 hours ex Sydney (another hour back last night – these 25 hour days are becoming a regular thing:)

Throughout the day Sun Princess steered a south westerly course through the North Atlantic Ocean. At 8am the ship was approximately 280 miles off the coast of Newfoundland. At midnight we passed 20 miles south-east of Newfoundland, this will be our closest point to the wreck of 'Titanic', which lies 370 miles south-east of Mistaken Point, Newfoundland.

Sea day 3 of 4 on the way to Nova Scotia. After a late night last night/this morning, one would have thought a sleep in for me would be a monty, nope up at 5am grrrr. Donna made up for me though zzzz.

Another cold day outside, temp was 10C, but the chill factor would have had it half that I reckon. The sun made a fleeting visit mid morning, that was enough to get us to try the spa. A very odd sight I must say, with the very thick steam raising from the hot spa, and swirling around. We went for the sheltered spa at the rear of the ship, no way were we getting in the ones on the open decks. It was so nice to get outside for a bit.

Another dance class for us today, this time the Waltz, about time we learnt how to do that properly. It makes such a difference to have proper instructors teaching, you learn so much in a 45 minute session.

Donna got some solo movie time in on the portable DVD player, whilst I did some long overdue photo maintenance. I use the well known method of taking 4000 photos, and culling 3000, which is a bit tedious, but effective. Another few photos are in the can for posting when we get some wifi on shore, hopefully in Halifax on Wednesday.

We went to the pre-dinner show of comedian/singer, Dan Riley, whom we saw the other night. Tonights show was also good, he even got me singing along, which is not easy to do when I am sober :) After dinner show was instrumentalist, Lisa Rollins (not sure of surname, but it is something like that). What I saw of the show was excellent, however I have to confess, the late night, and early morning, combined with a drink or two was enough to doze me off for a bit.

Then it was onto the Wheelhouse Bar to practice our waltzing, but it was packed, so we made a graceful exit, stage right, and hit the sack. Another relax day coming up again tomorrow :)
