Day 34 – Alexandria to Mykonos -
Monday 18/6/12
Weather – Fine and Sunny 28C - 31C
Sunrise – 5.57am
Sunset – 8.27pm
Time difference - minus 7 hours ex
Sydney. (forward an hour last night)
Throughout the day Sun Princess steered
a north westerly course through the Mediterranean Sea. At about
midnight tonight we will pass Astypalaia Island 7 miles portside.
Astypalaia is a Greek Island with 1238 residents and is situated in
the South East Aegean Sea.
Sea day today means relax day, and we
did lots of that. Doc removed all the dressings from the foot this
morning and prescribed sea air and sunlight for it. I was happy to
oblige, so we whiled away many an hour on deck by the pool in a nice
warm sun. Just the tonic. So how is that winter going back home then?
:)
Our 'social' cruise continues, we have
a great group of people with whom we have come to know quite well,
which just adds to the enjoyment of this holiday. We had everyone at
dinner tonight for the first time for quite a few days, so we enjoyed
swapping tales of our port calls at Safaga, Aqaba and Alexandria.
Short report today :)
We will drop anchor a 7am tomorrow and
commence tendering shortly after.
Footnote: The Captain has cancelled our
stop at Mykonos due as the very strong winds, and choppy seas made it
not safe enough for tendering operation which is quite
understandable. Tender ports are always problematic, so it is not
unexpected. On the plus side we will now be going past the
Dardinelles (spelling?) in daylight hours, and he is seeking approval
to berth earlier in Istanbul.
