Day 28 – Salalah, Oman - Safaga,
Egypt. Tuesday 12/6/12
Weather – Fine and Sunny 29C - 31C
Sunrise – 5.46am
Sunset – 7.19 pm
Time difference - minus 7 hours ex
Sydney. (another hour back last night). We are getting further from
home in time and distance !! We go back yet another hour tonight!!
Sun Princess continued on a
north-westerly course through the Red Sea with Sudan port side, and
Saudi Arabia starboard side. At noon today we passed 24 miles port
side of Elba Reef. At around 7pm we passed the border between Sudan
and Egypt, and soon after we passed Berenice (Barnis), a natural
harbour on our port side 23 miles off. The total distance of the
passage between Salalah and Safaga is 1750 miles.
Today is the last of our sea day
stretches, from hereon until after Europe we only have one or two
full days at sea at at time. Therefore it was relax to the max today,
so not much to report. Trivia, say no more!.
At lunch today I had the bestest Al
Matriciana pasta I have ever had in my life...I mean this was
seriously bloody good stuff. Those who know me, know how I love my
pasta, hot, tasty, peppery, and spicy..this had the lot. Thankfully
it was only a small entree size serve or I would have done some
internal damage with this meal I'm sure.
I went to a presentation on space
travel, and interest of mine, which was quite good, whilst Donna went
to a 'Ladies Pamper' session that was being conducted by spa staff,
in the casino (od location huh). I later discovered Donna spent more
time gambling than she did being pampered, just as well she made a
small profit.
After that it was a 2 hour reading
session out on the deck for me, whilst Donna did a movie. Extended
pre-dinner drinks tonight for a couple of our pre-dinner drinkers
birthdays. We also had a dinner table colleague birthday tonight !!
No after dinner entertainment for us
tonight as, we have to meet at 6.15am in the morning for our tour.
There will more than likely not be an update for a couple of days as
we have a full day ashore doing the Karnak Temple, then a lunch at a
5 star hotel on the River Nile, followed by the visit to the Valley
of the Kings. We are not expected back on board until 8.30pm, by
which time we should be stuffed.
But then it is up early the next
morning for another full day. We will arrive in Aqaba, Jordan for our
visit to the Lost City of Petra. Hence there maybe a lull in updates.
I am a bit behind in acknowledging some
of the comments on the blog, my apologies, but you get pretty busy
doing nothing sometimes, that you just do not have the time to do
anything LOL.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention :-) and i still do keep reading your blogs. Unfortunately my mother was carted off the ship in Dubai. Apparently she came back after her day tour, had dinner and was in the line to go int the theatre and collaspsed. She woke up in the medical centre on the ship but they promptly packed up her things in her room, called and ambulance and it was end of the crusie for her. She spent 3 days in ICU and another 2 days on teh ward. A CT scan discovered a bleed on the brain (stroke). She has made the 6hr fligth to Norway to her family all the while no one contacted us , the next of kin so i was a bit disappointed. She was really looking forward to Eygpt but has said she is thankful this occured in Dubai and the not the ports before and after. Happy cruising.
